Work Suspenders
In all the years that I’ve worn belts of all sorts, where every one guaranteed to keep my pants up I never found one that worked perfectly for my needs. So I switched to suspenders and they have been great, but they all seemed to have flaws that I didn’t like such as being too narrow or being made from elastic that stretched out after a few months of wear. I’ve tried every type of suspender from the highest quality to big box store clearance rack and none of them preformed or fit the way I had hoped. I also hated paying large sums for something that at best will last me a year. I’ve always been a buy once cry once type of person and that’s what basically inspired me to make a set for myself.
Now I just wrapped these up this week so I’m not sure how long they’ll last, but I know they will outlive and out preform every pair of suspenders I’ve spent money on the last few years. These are made from Wickett & Craig harness leather which is some of the best quality leather I’ve ever put my hands on. My entire goal with these was to make the best pair of suspenders I could so I might as well start out with some of the best materials money could buy. The snaps and buckles are antiqued brass, but you can just tell by the feel of them that they will hold up great since they’re real metal and not junk. I also probably over did it on the assembly of these by not only sewing them together, but in higher stress areas they recieved a copper rivet to ensure they never fail on you when you truly need them the most.
I wanted something that I can be proud to wear and show off, but I also wanted something that will last even on my hardest days in the shop. I can’t guarantee that these are the greatest pair of suspenders that you’ll own, but I’d be willing to bet they will hold up longer than most of the bigger names. Also the price may seem steep to most, but keep in mind I’m making these out of the best quality materials that I can find and in order to do that it will cost more than your typical pair. I’m currently offering these in medium brown only at this time, but may do other colors depending on the interest in them. I also plan to offer these with a pencil pocket stitched in and a ring to hang a carabiner off of.
Sizing currently is one size fits most for instance I’m 6’6” 270 lbs and these can be adjusted to fit someone up to 6’9” to someone under 6’ you may just have to punch your own holes to get your fit to your preference.
The straps are 1 1/2” wide and a perfect width in my opinion.
