Round utensil rack with brass utensils
This utensil rack is a one of a kind piece, Only one other in existence. A good friend of mine picked up the original set from a garage sale, it was rusty and well used. Come to find out it was made in New England in the 18th century, and it was made my a well known maker. After quite a few hours around the original I took the idea and made this set. Granted this set is brand new, it has the same characteristics as the original set, this set is what I’m assuming it looked like when it was first sold. This is a reproduction of the original set.
The set comes with:
The hanging round rack ( I tried to match it as closely as possible to the original. The original mounting hardware was made to mount into a beam the same way as this one is, but it can be screwed into a stud also.
A fork, the only part of the set that wasn’t made with brass in some type of way.
A keyhole shaped spatula. This style of spatula was fairly common in the 18th century.
A strainer, the original strainer has a flower like design to it and I made mine the same way. Though you will notice that two holes became one, and the original had it so I had to do it too.
A ladle
You may notice once you receive the order that the utensils with brass may feel kind of flimsy, but after further inspection of the original it felt similar and lasted for 300 years so this set should too with no proper care. Just keep in mind they are made to cook with not play baseball with.
The utensils are 100% food safe as long as you take proper care of them. The best way to give them a long life is by treating them as you would with cast iron. Also I DO NOT recommend running them through a dishwasher, hand wash only.
